Advertising extremely low prices
It’s natural to be attracted to low prices as the costs of living continue to rise. However there are some carpet cleaners who will use low prices as the bait in misleading advertising. They offer a cheap price per room, then once they’re in your home, they pressure you into buying “add-ons.” It’s like buying a car and finding that the dealer wants to charge you extra for the steering wheel. Dirt cheap prices also hinder the company from using the best quality products on your carpet.
The company doesn’t present well
We’ve heard a number of stories from our clients about how they once hired what they thought was a professional carpet cleaner, only for them to turn out to be students making extra money using machines hired from a supermarket. Amateur carpet cleaners not only cost you money but they can also cause permanent damage to your carpet. When choosing a carpet cleaner, check their experience and length of time in business. If they’ve been in the business for a long time, chances are they’re good at what they do.
Claims carpet will look cleaner when dry
Wet carpet actually has a much more uniform colour that hides stains more adeptly than dry carpet. If you can still see a stain on the carpet when it’s wet, it will be there when it’s dry. Don’t believe a carpet cleaner that tells you a stain will be removed after the carpet dries. Or, that the chemicals they use take a while to work so it could be an hour or two before the stain lifts.
They guarantee your bond back
A number of home cleaning services promote a ‘get your bond back guarantee’ on their websites with claims that if you use their services, you will 100 per cent get your bond back, or the company will reimburse you the cost of the cleaning. This is a misleading deal that almost never pans out in the renter’s favour. There’s usually a whole lot of fine print, criteria and clauses that will negate the deal so they never have to refund a dollar.
